On Wednesday 1 December 2021, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner, Ms Janet Anderson, PSM, sent a letter to residential approved providers on advanced planning and preparation for emergency events.

The Department of Health’s aged care regulatory functions have been transferred to the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner from 1 January 2020, giving the Commission new powers for monitoring and enforcing compliance under the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Act 2018 and Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Rules 2018.
RB 2021-15 This Regulatory Bulletin outlines the requirements for providers to have continuous improvement systems and processes that assess, monitor, and improve the quality and safety of care and services.
Under section 9-1 of the Aged Care Act 1997 approved providers are required to notify the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner of any change of circumstance that materially affects their suitability to be a provider of aged care.
