Every performance assessment at a service’s premises begins with an entry meeting between the person in charge at the service and the Assessment Team. The Assessment Team will request certain key documents during the entry meeting at site audits, review audits and assessment contacts where performance against the Aged Care Quality Standards (Quality Standards) is being assessed.

Providers should be mindful of their obligations under the Quality of Care Principles 2014, and pay careful attention to the legislative requirements underpinning the use of restraint when applying those obligations to real-life situations. Transitional provisions allow the Commissioner to continue with regulatory activities that had started prior to commencement of the Rules. The Commissioner may make any arrangements as are necessary for the purposes of completing the activities. The Rules provide for processes commenced before 1 January 2019 to continue to be progressed as if the steps had been taken under the Rules. This includes applications for re-accreditation, quality reviews and monitoring processes.
