RecruitAbility
RecruitAbility will be applied to all external vacancies available at the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, including Senior Executive Service roles.
What is RecruitAbility?
The RecruitAbility Scheme aims to support the increased representation of people with disability in the APS, improve confidence of people with disability to put forward their skills and capabilities and improve disability confidence of hiring managers. RecruitAbility is an affirmative measure that provides for progression of candidates who identify as living with disability through the initial application stage to the next stage of a selection process (i.e. through initial shortlisting) if they have been assessed as meeting the minimum requirements of the job. Following initial shortlisting, the recruitment process proceeds as usual. Please note disclosing a disability does not adversely affect job prospects, and the APS merit principle remains the basis for engagement and promotion. Find more information in the RecruitAbility section of the APSC website.
How do I opt in to RecruitAbility?
To opt into the RecruitAbility scheme candidates must answer 'yes' to the question in the Commission’s application form asking if they are a person living with disability. Candidates may then click yes’ to confirm they would like to opt-in to the RecruitAbility scheme when applying for the vacancy. You do not need to provide further information or evidence about your disability.
Job applicants with disability who:
- opt into the scheme
- declare they have disability, and
- meet the minimum requirements of a vacancy advertised under the scheme, are advanced to a further stage in the selection process.
All candidates will still be assessed on merit for engagement and promotion.
What are minimum requirements?
A candidate opting-in to RecruitAbility meets the minimum requirements if they:
- Satisfy essential job criteria as defined in the position description. This may be based on the selection criteria in the candidate pack/position description or the classification of a role.
- Meet any mandatory qualifications, registrations, or clearances.
- Can perform the inherent requirements of the job, with reasonable adjustments if required.
Reasonable adjustments
We provide reasonable adjustments such as access, equipment or other practical support at relevant stages of the recruitment process and in any position, you are made successful in. Please inform us at recruitment@agedcarequality.gov.au if you need any adjustments made. Regardless of whether you opt into RecruitAbility or not, you will have access to reasonable adjustments. Further details about the reasonable adjustments scheme can be found on the Australian Public Service Commission | Reasonable Adjustment Policy page.
