About clinical governance

Aged care services providing clinical care must use a clinical governance framework. This follows the Aged Care Quality Standards (Standard 8, 3e).

Clinical governance supports safe, quality clinical care and good outcomes. It does this through:

  • leadership behaviours
  • policies
  • procedures
  • responsibilities
  • relationships
  • planning, monitoring and improvement mechanisms.
