Registered providers need to keep information about their organisation up to date.
Under the Aged Care Act 2024 (Aged Care Act), you need to notify us when your information changes. In some circumstances, you need to notify the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (department).
Keeping your information up to date helps us:
- communicate with the right people in your organisation
- process applications and notifications efficiently
- keep accurate information on the Provider Register.
Depending on the information, the change you’re making or your registration category, you may need to:
- apply to vary your registration
- report a change to the number of available beds
- notify us about a change in circumstances
- update information in the Government Provider Management System (GPMS)
- contact us directly to correct information.
Some requirements only apply to certain providers.
The department’s Aged Care Provider Requirements Search tool can help you identify the registration conditions, obligations and duties that apply to your organisation.
Vary your registration
To vary your registration, you need to submit an application for variation.
You can apply to:
- add or remove a registration category
- add or remove an approved residential care home from your registration

- suspend your registration.
Changes to the number of available beds

Change in circumstances

Responsible persons
Submit a change in circumstance notification when:
- you want to add or remove a responsible person

If you were deemed as a registered provider on 1 November 2025, you needed to notify us of all your responsible people, within 6 months. If you haven’t notified us yet you can do it now using a change in circumstance form. This will help us contact the right person.
To update contact details for a responsible person, use the Responsible person details update form.
