Standard 7: The residential community recognises that when older people move into a residential care home, their new community becomes a central part of their lives.
It’s important for older people to feel safe, at home, included and respected in their residential community. You need to support them to do things that are meaningful to them and stay connected with people who are important to them.
Under this standard, you must:
- provide access to services and supports for daily living that give older people the best possible quality of life
- make sure older people feel safe in their residential care home
- manage transitions between care types and locations well.
You can find more information on the Standard 7 guidance page.
Who Standard 7 applies to
Standard 7 applies to Australian Government-funded aged care providers registered in Category 6: residential care (including respite).
