Revision of the Quality Standards was a key recommendation of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. The Department of Health and Aged Care is in the process of finalising its review and advising Government of the outcomes including a strengthened set of Quality Standards. The Commission is contributing to the revision of the Quality Standards in our role as the national regulator of aged care services. 

In early 2023, the Commission will be conducting a pilot program to test how the strengthened Standards will apply in practice.
