Aged care laws in Australia have now changed. The new Aged Care Act 2024 and Aged Care Rules 2025 now apply. While we complete updating of our website, including draft guidance and other materials, to align with the new laws, providers are advised to refer to the new Act and Rules for any required clarification of their obligations and legal responsibilities. Thank you for your patience.

Quality Standards draft guidance consultation extended until 19 May

We have extended the public consultation period for the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards draft guidance documents from 30 April to 19 May 2024.

We are consulting on our draft guidance resources to help providers, aged care workers and other stakeholders understand the strengthened Quality Standards and their roles and responsibilities in meeting them.

The strengthened Quality Standards will come into effect in line with the commencement of the new Aged Care Act.

Your insights will help us ensure that our resources will support the delivery of quality, person-centred aged care. We will soon also be releasing draft guidance resources for older people, their families, and advocates.

Share your feedback by midday AEST, 19 May 2024.

Read the guidance documents and provide feedback here.
