Accreditation decision

Following a site audit conducted on 05 October 2022 to 07 October 2022, the Commission made a decision on 01 December 2022 to re-accredit this service.

The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 01 December 2025.

Exceptional Circumstances

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has temporarily modified our Regulatory Program, including the suspension of site audits to determine whether to accredit, not to re-accredit or vary the periods of accreditation for a service. 

In order to give effect to continuity of accreditation the Department of Health has, under Section 42.5 of the Aged Care Act 1997, made a decision to grant ‘exceptional circumstances’ to this service 17 April 2023.

The service remains subject to compliance monitoring by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for three years until 17 April 2022.

Following a site audit conducted on 3 January 2018  to 5 January 2018, a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision on 7 March 2018 to re-accredit this service. The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 17 April 2019.

The approved provider of the service meets 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards.

Serious risk decision

On 27 September 2017 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that Illawarra Retirement Trust failed to meet one of more expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to IRT Berala on the Park and that this failure has placed, or may place, the safety, health or wellbeing of a care recipient of the service at serious risk.

The Department of Health has been notified of the risk.

The Quality Agency will continue to monitor the performance of the service including through unannounced visits.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 33 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards. We decided to vary this home’s accreditation period. This home is now accredited until 17 April 2018.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for three years until 24 June 2018.
