Following a site audit conducted on 01 February 2023 to 03 February 2023, the Commission made a decision on 24 March 2023 to re-accredit this service.

The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 24 March 2026.

Exceptional Circumstances

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has temporarily modified our Regulatory Program, including the suspension of site audits to determine whether to accredit, not to re-accredit or vary the periods of accreditation for a service.

In order to give effect to continuity of accreditation the Department of Health has, under Section 42.5 of the Aged Care Act 1997, made a decision to grant ‘exceptional circumstances’ to this service

20 June 2023.

The service remains subject to compliance monitoring by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

Following a site audit the Commission made a decision on 11 December 2019 that this service met all of the Aged Care Quality Standards. The service is re-accredited for three years until 20 December 2022.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for one year until 20 December 2019.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 20 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards. We decided to vary this home’s accreditation period. This home is now accredited until 20 December 2018.

Serious risk decision

On 25 June 2018 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that failure by Farad Nominees Pty Ltd to meet one expected outcome in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Sir Thomas Mitchell Residential Care Facility has placed, or may place, the safety, health or wellbeing of care recipients of the service at serious risk.

A site audit was conducted by the Quality Agency on 4 September 2018 to 6 September 2018 at Sir Thomas Mitchell Residential Care Facility to assess the performance of the service against the Accreditation Standards. The Quality Agency found the service complies with all Accreditation Standards.

Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for three years until 22 May 2019.
