Accreditation decision 

Following a site audit conducted on 18 August 2020 to 21 August 2020, the Commission made a decision on 29 September 2020 to re-accredit this service for a further period. 

The decision on the service’s accreditation period was affirmed following reconsideration on 27 October 2020.

The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 11 October 2021.

Exceptional Circumstances

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has temporarily modified our Regulatory Program, including the suspension of site audits to determine whether to accredit, not to re-accredit or vary the periods of accreditation for a service. 

In order to give effect to continuity of accreditation the Department of Health has, under Section 42.5 of the Aged Care Act 1997, made a decision to grant ‘exceptional circumstances’ to this service until 11 April 2021.

Non-compliance update

Following an assessment contact conducted on 16 January 2020, the Commission made a decision that the approved provider of the service is non-compliant with eight requirements of the Aged Care Quality Standards.

Serious risk decision

Following a site audit conducted on 30 July 2019 to 2 August 2019, a delegate of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner made a finding that Pyramid Residential Care Centre failed to meet seven Aged Care Quality Standards (Quality Standards) in relation to Pyramid Residental Care Centre.

On 31 October 2019 a decision was made that failure to meet seven Quality Standards has placed the safety, health or well-being of an aged care consumer/s of the service at serious risk. The Department of Health has been notified of the risk.

Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time.

Following a site audit the Commission made a decision on 20 September 2019 that this service met one of the eight Aged Care Quality Standards. The service is re-accredited for one year until 11 October 2020.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for three years until 11 October 2019.
